The Houston Branch Hosts a Book Drive and Volunteers with Books Between Kids

On Saturday, March 16th, members of the Houston AYLUS Branch donated around 600 books collected from previous events and helped sort and pack books to be given to elementary schools at the Books Between Kids Warehouse. Books Between Kids is a non-profit organization that provides children in need of help with books to expand their home library.

On Saturday morning, the AYLUS members met up beforehand to pack books for donating and then preceded to drive to the Books Between Kids Warehouse. They were met with much gratitude, and after a brief explanation of the volunteering process, got to work by first sorting donated books into different categories (Picture, Beginning Reader, Young Adult, Chapter Books, etc.). The organizers were also very generous and allowed the members to take books they found interesting to take home as long as they put them to good use. After sorting the books into separate categories, the members partook in packing and sealing the books into cardboard boxes which would later be donated to elementary schools.
