East Cobb Branch Participates in Cobb County Public Library 2-Days Spring Book Sale

On March 16th and 17th, members from the East Cobb Branch of AYLUS volunteered at the Cobb County Public Library Spring book sale. The book sale was quite laborious but overall pleasing. Saturday started out peace and quiet with people roaming around, searching for books. However, as the hours reached noon, customers came flooding in. Due to many heavy books such as World Book, Kevin and I carried the boxes containing the whole volumes frantically to match the demands of the customers. Susanna Huang diligently organized the stacks of books that had just been scavenged by a crowd. Howard Hua, Irene Chiao, Diane Chen, and Eileen Zhang tirelessly helped total up books at the checkout line in fascinating speed. Maxwell Jiang used his math calculator brain to calculate the total for customers at amazing speed with a broad smile.

Sunday was the boxing day, what people bring was a box and fill as much book as they could for a fixed price. Kevin and I were handling book carts to puffing customers and leading them to the elevators, Gary Mei and Faith Xu aided the customers at the checkout line by totaling the amount and packing the books in neat piles. As the day came to an end, lots of customers were leaving the book sale with humongous boxes. Gary Mei, Kevin Shen, and I put ourselves to the challenge as we struggled to load those boxes.

The spirit of the volunteers was high, and all were eager to help customers. Many volunteers offered themselves to carry out heavy books with hand trucks. The experience was quite memorable, and all the volunteers enjoyed helping others. We had lots of fun and gained lots of experiences.
