On January 11th, 2019, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in the 59th Computer for Kids Lab, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.
The participants did the following:
- Prepared 120 mice for distribution
- Prepared 150 keyboards for distribution
- Prepared 195 power cords for distribution
- Prepared 15 power adapters for distribution
- Prepared 35 DVIs cables for distribution
- Prepared 35 VGA cables for distribution
- Removed 15 hard drives from computers
So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab of this year:
- Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 4,488 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
- Tested and repaired 340 LCD monitors
- Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, removed and cloned 4,170 hard drives
- Wrapped, folded, sorted, and packed 12,650 mice/keyboards/power cords/adapters/batteries
- Tested and Bagged 125 Speakers
The following members participated: Tianrui He, Phillip Huang, Chengda Li, Chengming Li, Tiara (Tianhua) Li, Eric Lin, Simon Shao, Ruinan Wang, Gary Wu, Richard Wu, Kyne Xie, Eric Xu, Jason Xu, Ricky Xu, and Nathan Yang.
The AYLUS San Diego Committee organized the 59th Computer for Kids Lab.
