Greater Princeton AYLUS (GPA) branch in NJ has many members with talents in sports, such as skating, tennis, table tennis, and golf, etc. GPA member Elizabeth Chang, a very gifted girl in figure ice skating, performed her volunteering services by teaching children how to ice skate as part of our “Youth Sports Tutoring” project.
The “Learn to Skate” is a beginner skating program at the Ice Land Skating Center in Princeton Junction, NJ that teaches children how to ice skate. There are a limited number of coaches at the ice rink who can hardly manage all the children eager to learn ice skating. The coaches need volunteers to help coach teach the inexperienced children and also provide support.
Ice skating can be dangerous at times with many kids around one single coach is not able to catch every child who falls to the ice, volunteers must ensure the children’s safety while on ice. Overall, volunteers help give many children a most enjoyable experience when discovering ice skating.
On Friday nights from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. (11/30/2018, 12/14/2018, 12/21/2018, 12/28/2018, 4 hours in total), Elizabeth patiently taught children how to ice skate as a volunteer of “Learn to Skate” program at the Ice Land Skating Center. Parents of the children were very grateful for what Elizabeth did for them.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Chang, and we expect more and more GPA members become committed to our “Youth Sports Tutoring” Project!
