On October 19, three members of the East Cobb AYLUS Branch volunteered at the fall festival at East Side Elementary School. Like most Cobb County Elementary Schools, East Side holds a Fall Festival, in which the volunteer opportunity open to youths and adults at this year.
Our members helped around the Fall Festival by attending to their chosen duties at their stations or around the event. Many children went around the place with their friends and family and participated in the many fun activities that were offered in the Fall Festival. East Side Elementary School gave an opportunity for students and parents to volunteer at their Fall Festival by sending out a sign-up sheet online. The event lasted from 5 pm to 10 pm, and within that span of five hours, the AYLUS team volunteered for varying amounts of time. There were many different positions offered for volunteering such as craft station volunteers who helped distribute craft supplies, inflatable games volunteer who made sure the children were playing safely on the inflated playgrounds, and drink table volunteers who distributed drinks during the event. There were also “Assigned as Needed” volunteers that would help all around the Fall Festival. The volunteers were glad to see the happy children play, and they enjoyed interacting with them and helping around the event.
Attendance: Howard Hua (5 hours), Diane Chen (3 hours), Katherine Sha (1.5 hours).
