On June 24th, 2018, 9 people from the East Cobb Young Musicians team performed THREE AND HALF hours at three local senior centers (Atria, Arbor Terrace, and Sunrise). Among the performers were many different types of instruments such as violins, cello, piano, clarinet, trumpet. They played many pieces from the classical era to modern music. Many seniors loved the performance and were enthusiastic for another performance on July 4th.
We were all greeted kindly and at each location given plenty of space to set up, practice, and talk amongst ourselves. At every performance, we would introduce ourselves and begin to play pieces in an orderly manner.
At our first two performances, we played normally and had a great time. We demonstrated pieces we had never played before and played multiple duets and triplets, including 4 hands piano, violin & piano duets, clarinet, violin, and piano triplets. Upon our third performance at Sunrise, we arrived too early and had to wait around. As this occurred, the rain came in and communication errors caused us to have a confusing time. Soon, we all decided to practice our pieces, and very soon after, senior residents get together at Action Room, we started to perform for those seniors. The seniors especially loved how we practiced beforehand and requested that we return with patriotic songs on July 4th which we would love to do.
Attendance: Michael Fu(2 hours), Faith Huang(1.5 hours), Selina Huang(3.5 hours), Susanna Huang(3.5 hours), Maxwell Jiang(3.5 hours), Raymond Jiang(3.5 hours), Racheal Li(3.5 hours), Jay Pan(3.5 hours), Katherine Sha(3.5 hours).
