On the 10th of September 2017, members of the Fairfax AYLUS branch initiated a donation event in response to a truly catastrophic event that took place in Texas.
Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc for multiple days and left towns and cities in southeastern Texas like Houston completely flooded. It was devastating not only for the people who lived in the affected areas, which includes AYLUS’ Houston Branch, but also for Americans as a whole. However, the people in our nation, are resilient and quick to bounce back. People did everything in their power to support the unfortunate victims of this natural disaster. Neighbors became comrades and strangers became friends.
To lend a helping hand for their efforts, the Fairfax Aylus branch accumulated over $2,300 worth of donations in just a single day thanks to the generosity of our community and branch members. Preparations for the event, which includes designing posters and flyers, were done the week before the event.
Special thanks to Vice President Adam Yee for donating $150 of his hard earned internship money. Thanks also to Charles Wang, Anna Xu, Richard Zhan, Cynthia Hu, Steven Lee, Cicilla and Grace Li, Aliana and Alicia Yee, and David Cao for helping out.
The event was organized by Fairfax Branch President, George Cao.
