Orginally intended for Earth Day 2017, the Cardiff beach cleanup was pushed back for many weeks due to AP testing and other events near the end of the school year. However the cleanup was finally carried out on June 4th, 2017 as many members and their families participated in order to clean up the dirtiest beach in San Diego County as stated by the San Diego Coast Keeper and Surfrider Foundation. The event was a success as many members filled their their trash bags to the brim. The San Marcos Branch will definitely be planning many more beach cleanups as it is a great way to get service hours and benefit the environment at the same time.
