Weeks before March 18th, 23 members of AYLUS Pearland and families from a local middle school, Pearland Junior High West (PJHW), came together to donate clothes, shoes and toys to put together a garage sale. Members donated items that varied from baby’s clothes to skateboards, bycicles, books and kitchenware, ultimately allowing AYLUS to collect hundreds of items.
The Pearland Branch came up with the idea to have a garage sale in order to fundraise for PJHW’s the Math & Science Club in 2016. Because of the success of the last sale, this year, AYLUS looked forward to having another one. Both high school members and junior members of AYLUS alike spent a weekend preparing for the sale, setting up items and their prices and creating signs for customers in the small space of the garage.
When the day came, members woke up early in the morning to ensure that everything was ready so the sale could begin. The garage sale successfully raised almost $400, going to Future Problem Solvers Club (FPS) to give the students at the local middle school more opportunities and funds for competitions and activities.
