On December 17th, 2016, fifteen Pearland Branch members went to the Learning Skool House to sort and pack donations brought in from various AYLUS families and community members.
Aided by Ms.Dama, the director of Med Alliance Interational, the volunteers sorted lightly used clothing and accessories into boxes of respective genders and varying age. After working for 2 hours of cheerful work, our members concluded by taking a group photo with Ms. Dama and the supplies that they had organized. Ms. Dama was grateful for our help and was pleasantly surprised by the AYLUS Pearland’s work ethic and overwhelming interest in providing for the needy.
Starting this project in July, Kevin Bai and Kevin Chen teamed up with AYLUS to begin this massive donations fundraiser. Over the course of 4 months, the members actively sought out donations from friendly families, notified the community of the Children of Mary Orphanage’s mission statement, and sorted and packed the donations into 15 boxes ready to be shipped off.
The volunteers were: Kevin Bai, Kevin Chen, Tony Liu, Jason Jiang, Donna Liu, Hans Wang, Vincent Yang, Luxin Peng, Bill Tang, Cathy Liang, Claire Lu, Kathryn Guan, Katherine Zhong, Janie Chen, and Kate Liu.
