June 4th, 2016 was a much anticipated day at Syosset High School, New York. The high school had its annual arts festival which all members of the community were welcome to attend, called Bravesfest.
The AYLUS branches at Syosset, including the East Nassau branch and North Shore branch, took this opportunity to promote and fundraise. They teamed with the school’s Global Initiative Committee (GIC), whose mission is to support global and domestic sustainability through chartering projects with non-profit and government institutions.
The students sold Italian Ices which is a popular food on hot days, sponsored by Ralph’s, a local store. They were raising money to purchase supplies for a not-for-profit private school for children with special needs, located in NYC (http://reeceschool.org/). At the end of the day, more than $100 were collected, thanks to the hardworking sellers and supportive participants.
