Oakland Gardens Members Create Pipe Cleaner Flowers to Support the Africa Library Project (8/12/2026)

On August 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, our members gathered for our 244th event, creating handmade pipe cleaner flower bouquets for an upcoming fundraising sale. Through this meaningful project, raise funds for the Africa Library Project, helping provide books and educational opportunities for children in underserved communities.

During the workshop, members learned the techniques of making each flower, carefully shaping petals, assembling leaves, and wrapping every bouquet with care. From being unfamiliar with the process at first to gradually mastering the skills, everyone showed patience, creativity, and a willingness to help one another. Although crafting each bouquet required time, attention to detail, and perseverance, the smiles on everyone’s faces as the beautiful bouquets came together made all the effort worthwhile.

Beyond learning a new craft, this experience reminded our members of the value of teamwork, dedication, and community service. They encouraged one another, shared ideas, and discovered that every handmade bouquet represents not only creativity but also compassion. Each completed bouquet brings us one step closer to raising funds for the Africa Library Project, proving that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

We are grateful for every member who contributed their time, talent, and heart. We believe that every bouquet carries a message of hope, and every contribution helps create brighter opportunities for children through access to books and education.
