On Friday, July 31st, from 9:00 AM up until 1:00 PM, members of the AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered with NOSH Delivers. NOSH Delivers is a non-profit food pantry located in Glen Cove that primarily focuses on providing food access to families. NOSH Delivers actively works to ensure that families have nutritious food available to support their daily needs.
When we first arrived, we spent some time organizing boxes before assembling breakfast bags. We first sorted the granola protein bars from the bucket of snacks before packing one in each breakfast bag alongside a cup of apple sauce. Once the bags were assembled, we packed the breakfast bags into larger boxes and stocked the shelves so they would be readily available for families to grab. Shortly after, we ran out of decorated bags, so we began decorating additional bags to continue to prepare the lunch bags. On each bag we wrote NOSH and KFIP and used our creativity to add unique colorful designs onto each bag. These small decorations assisted in making each bag more special and meaningful to the families who received it. Inside each lunch bag we added a pack of noodles and chips or cookies. We continued to assemble lunch bags and decorate until our volunteering was over.
