Assisted living Center Volunteer

On Sunday March 15th, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, the Twin Falls branch volunteered with seniors at Grace Memory Care.

After seeing a community post from Grace Memory Care, our branch reached out to visit and spend time with their residents. During our time there, we spent time with the residents by doing activities such as playing bingo and a game called Guess the Animal. We also colored with the seniors and sat with them and had conversations. In addition, we helped with small tasks such as bringing them water and refilling the cups when necessary. While volunteering, we understood that some of the seniors had difficulty hearing or understanding what we were saying. Because of this, it was important for us to be patient, speak clearly, and communicate to the best of our abilities. This experience helped us practice important skills such patience and communication. The most meaningful part of the experience was seeing how much the residents appreciated having people spend time with them. We were told that the seniors enjoyed doing these activities and spending time with us. We had a great experience spending time with the seniors and getting to know them because it showed us how small actions like playing games with them significantly improved their day.

Members who participated include Venya Sunkesula – 2 hours, Hadlie Human – 2 hours, and Kenadie Henna – 2 hours.
