In an ongoing effort to fight hunger and support local families in need, the Aylus Morris Branch partnered with the local United Methodist Church to organize a community food drive. The project aimed to provide relief to families struggling with food insecurity by collecting and donating essential perishable items.
Over the past several weeks, Aylus members encouraged neighbors, classmates, and community members to participate in the drive by donating fresh and perishable food items. Their dedication and teamwork resulted in the collection of over 36 pounds of non perishable food, including can food, rice, flour, soup etc. Each contribution reflected the compassion and generosity of the community coming together for a meaningful cause.
On November 2nd at 3:00 PM, Aylus Morris Branch volunteers personally delivered the donations to the United Methodist Church’s distribution site, where the food was sorted and prepared for local families. The experience offered members the opportunity to witness the direct impact of their collective efforts, emphasizing the importance of empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility.
This initiative aligns perfectly with the mission of Aylus—to inspire youth leadership through service and to foster a spirit of giving within the community. By partnering with local organizations such as the United Methodist Church, the Morris Branch continues to strengthen its role as a bridge between volunteers and those in need.
Through projects like this food drive, Aylus Morris Branch members demonstrate that even small contributions can make a significant difference. Each pound of food donated represents hope for a family and a reminder that when communities unite with compassion and purpose, they can help ensure that no one goes hungry.
