On Tuesday August 12th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, members of the AYLUS Roslyn Branch partnered with Nosh Delivers! to aid in the donations from a food delivery. This isn’t our first collaboration. It is hard for many people to get enough food, so some groups like Nosh Delivers work to make sure they have something to eat.
At the start of the day we helped them take apart boxes. It was so hot that when we finished it we were all sweating so they gave us water. Then, we went to help the donors bring the food from their cars to the house. Some of the food we stored and some we put on the shelves. After that we helped people load the food into their cars.Then, we helped them do the “KFIP” bags. We drew some pictures on the brown bags that were really fun and interesting. We all had fun at that.
At the end of the day there were fewer people coming and some people had left, so we helped them clean the floor and sort out food. All in all we had a fun but busy day. Our team did well and the days work was a result of teamwork. We hope we helped our community and we were proud of our work. We think our work was very meaningful.The volunteering was fun for us and we’re excited to help out again.
