On Sunday, Oct 18th, volunteers from the Alyus Therapeutic Skating Program gathered at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink for an afternoon of mentorship and skill-building for young skaters.
From 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., each volunteer helped skaters practice new skills. Through patient encouragement and fun on-ice games like “Red light, Green light”, the volunteers helped the skaters safely build their confidence. By the end of the session, the progress was visible as the skaters were confidently demonstrating skills and skating independently. The event was incredibly inspiring and friendly for both the participants and the volunteers.
