AYLUS Great Neck Branch Volunteers help set up for Mid-Autumn Day Festivities 10/18/26

On October 18th, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch went to Stepping Stone Park from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, to help the park district with the Mid-Autumn Festival preparation. After cleaning trash at Village Green Park, AYLUS volunteers headed to Stepping Stone Park.
At Stepping Stone Park, volunteers helped prepare for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Our task was to put pool noodles onto ropes so that the park staff could collect the lanterns more easily after the festival. At first, we had some trouble because the rope was too bent to go through the noodles. We also tried threading the rope from both ends, but it was too thick to fit through. After trying different ways, the staff gave us a suitable stick to help us finish the task.
Through this activity, I learned the importance of teamwork. When our first methods did not work, we tried other ways to solve the problem. We also worked together to finish the task. This experience taught me that even simple volunteer work requires patience and cooperation. By helping prepare the materials, we helped the staff get ready for the upcoming festival.
