On 8/9/25, members of the Newtown AYLUS branch volunteered with Rolling Harvest Food Rescue to help harvest potatoes for families in need. The event took place at [farm name/location], where volunteers worked together to dig up and collect fresh potatoes directly from the fields. These potatoes will be distributed to local food pantries, soup kitchens, and meal programs, providing healthy, fresh produce to community members facing food insecurity.
Our members spent the day working in teams—digging, gathering, and bagging potatoes—while learning about the importance of local agriculture and food distribution efforts. It was a hands-on experience that allowed us to see the direct impact of our work, knowing that the produce we harvested would be on someone’s dinner table within days.
The event also provided a chance to connect with other volunteers and learn more about the mission of Rolling Harvest, which partners with farms to reduce food waste and ensure nutritious food reaches those who need it most.
Volunteers: Eric Chen(Event Leader), Aaron Temmer, Aiden Ye, Zhiheng Wang, David Soong, and Daniel Tang. Everybody volunteered for 2 hours.
