Today at Fellowship Village, volunteers helped seniors with several technology questions. One senior needed assistance resetting and pairing an Apple Watch, and the volunteer guided them through the process so they could use the device independently. Another senior had concerns about a potentially hacked phone, and the volunteer helped remove a suspicious application and improve the phone’s security. Volunteers also explained the functions of the different buttons on an iPhone and helped seniors log into important accounts, including Chase Bank, Social Security, and Login.gov. In addition, volunteers demonstrated how to deposit checks, save passwords using Google, and set up and use Google Authenticator for additional account security. One senior also needed help verifying their identity for Social Security, and the volunteer guided them through the process.
At today’s technology support session, volunteers helped seniors become more comfortable using their devices and accessing important online services. Through patient, one-on-one guidance, residents gained practical skills related to account security, online banking, authentication, and everyday smartphone use. By helping seniors understand these tools and practice the steps themselves, volunteers encouraged greater independence and confidence while continuing to build a supportive connection between volunteers and the community.
