AYLUS Roslyn Volunteers at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Group Home (51st) on August 2nd, 2025

On Saturday, August 2nd, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., members of AYLUS Roslyn visited the CP Nassau residents at a residential home in Hicksville.

We began by baking a cinnamon crumb coffee cake. The residents participated by mixing, pouring, and stirring the ingredients. Then, we did some arts and crafts. We colored in fill-in the lines bags that the residents got to keep. In addition, we also made pulperie bags that smelled great. Then, we did some exercise activities. The residents really enjoyed our mobility games. We had Velcro balls to place/throw on a Velcro dart board. The residents also played with our tower with ring stacks. This was a favorite from everyone as they all played with it, and it was very fun. This gave the residents a good exercise as we were handing them the rings from spots they had to stretch and reach to. During this time, we also had visitors from the family of 2 of the residents! They really appreciated what we were doing and even joined in on the activities. We were happy for them to join us for the fun! After, because the weather was so warm, we went on a nice walk around the neighborhood while enjoying the summer sun and calm breeze. When we got back, we fed the delicious cake to all the residents. The staff really appreciated us being there, and so did the residents. We were so happy to be able to create new memories with the wonderful residents of CP Nassau. We can’t wait to come back!

Volunteers that participated: Maxim Li (3 hours), Austin Guo (3 hours), Michael Zhang (3 hours), Leah Chan (3 hours), Connie Lin (2 hours)
