On July 26th, 2025, our team hosted our 179th event. Today is a very special event to our branch as it is hosted in honor of it being the 2nd year of the creation of our branch. Our event started at 8 am to 4 pm with the good weather making it a more joyful day.
As this was a celebration of our branch, we have invited NYC Council Member Sandra Ung to join us to give us a speech in order to motivate our members for further success as well as hand out certificates to our most hardworking members of the 2025 year so far.
Due to it being a major event of our branch, we have worked to obtain a permit for Kissena Park grounds in order to host the family fun day as it is open to the community to join and have fun. Our members set up tables, chairs, and tents for the different activities that the event includes. Our activities include balloon animals, face painting, penguin walk, twister, archery, hit the gong, potato sack race, three legged race, egg race, raffle, and fundraiser. Each and every one of our activities gathered huge success, as more and more members of our community joined us in the family fun day. While many kids enjoy the activities prepared, there were also parents joining in on the fun. With us holding a raffle, there were many people who were interested in participating in the fun. The raffle contained 3 different rounds and each round had 5 different prizes, people were lining up to see which prize they might win. When the time arrived for the raffle winners, there were many excited shouts and laughter. Not only that, our balloon animals and face painting stations were a huge success, with many lining for it. Throughout the event, many members of the community expressed their joy of having such an event in the park. One member even said that throughout the years that they have lived by Kissena Park, this was the first time where there was an event hosted for the community, spreading happiness and smiles, instead of another park clean up event. By the end of the event, it could be said that our event was a huge success with the community. Many entered the park with a curious look and left with happiness and smiles on their faces. Through all this, we have learned that not only is improving the environment a good thing, but also directly impacting our community through events such as this one, where everyone can join in and have fun.
