On June 28, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, volunteers from the Aylus Roslyn Branch helped out “The Long Island Native Plant Initiative (LINPI), which is a volunteer-run nonprofit based in Brentwood, NY that “strives to preserve Long Island’s biodiversity”.
When we arrived, we immediately got to work and put on gloves. We started helping out by filling pots with soil and planting plants in them to help preserve and grow them. We then helped water the plants to help them grow bigger than they currently are.
Planting the plants was much more tedious than expected due to the fact that there were many plants that needed to be planted, and they had to be planted gently or else they would not grow as well as they should’ve. This overall demonstrates that although something as simple as planting a plant seems easy, it could be much more difficult than expected.
