Community Beading Workshop 4/19

The third week of AYLUS Plano’s April beading program emphasized thematic design and personal reflection through bracelet-making. Again, each volunteer worked independently to create their own bracelets, selecting distinct color palettes of stone beads. There was no collaboration on a single piece—rather, the emphasis was on self-expression and technical consistency across each individual’s work.

Alex Tianlu Zhou focused on grounding earth tones—such as bronze, dark sienna, and burnt orange—creating a bracelet series meant to evoke strength and subtle elegance. Jenny Wang selected light jade, coral, and mother-of-pearl to emphasize delicacy and optimism. Daniel Wang combined solid dark stones with occasional metallic beads to bring a modern aesthetic to his piece.

Participants observed the volunteers’ work to draw inspiration for their own. Alex also prepared simple reference guides explaining how bead symmetry and string tension affect bracelet quality, enhancing the educational value of the event.
