AYLUS Syosset Volunteers at Bellmore Cerebral Palsy Home 6/27/26

On Saturday June 27th, AYLUS Syosset visited the cerebral palsy home located in Bellmore, Long Island. Cerebral palsy lifelong disorder that affects all aspects of an affected individual’s life. Ranging from limited motor skills to speech impediments, individuals struggling with cerebral palsy often reside in homes where they can have constant assistance and monitoring.

What AYLUS can offer these individuals is a mental break—a day for relaxation. While the residents do engage in other activities from day to day, Syosset volunteers enjoy coming over to truly connect with them. Today, we focused on hands-on activities that would get each of the residents involved. Arts and crafts are an accessible way for individuals to practice their fine motor skills, and the activity that we brought today—pom pom paintings—is the perfect way. In addition, with Independence Day coming up, volunteers made red, white, and blue bracelets as well. While today wasn’t a day for baked goods, it definitely will be on the list for next time!
