Achieve Together: Pearland Branch Community Chess Class (#81) on June 14, 2026

On Sunday June 14, 2026, Joshua Meng and Brendon Jiang hosted the Pearland Branch volunteer chess lesson. The students competed against each other, seeing who could solve each position quickly and accurately. Through this, they learned to recognize different types of basic checkmates. Additionally, they learned about the chess opening and the rules that come along with it. They reviewed a guided game and understood the thought process behind each move. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to play against fellow peers and implement what they learned.

AYLUS Pearland provides an opportunity to the community to learn about the wonders of chess, while still having fun, allowing them to practice concepts that they have learned, gain knowledge, and improve their overall gameplay.

Event Lead (3 hours): Joshua Meng
