On June 4th, Great Neck AYLUS hosted another successful tutoring session at the Great Neck Library Station Branch from 6:00-7:00 pm. To begin with, Summer assisted a younger student with English studies, reading a bunch of picture-action books involving a policeman who is half dog, half human, solving crimes with his partner officer. She also helped her complete her reading comprehension homework in no time. Next, Brian helped a 6th-grade student with his French project, further developing his French vocabulary and typing/constructing essays fluently. Brendan assisted another student in the fields of social studies, especially the American Civil War, where slavery expanded and directly caused the deaths of millions of people. It is the worst and only civil war in the United States, leading to upwards of six hundred thousand deaths. And lastly, Junlin assisted a 4th-grade student with difficult maths olympiad questions. It involved pattern recognition and combinatorics, calculating the number of outcomes with many initial inputs, but they managed to pull through in due time anyway. Overall, it was another great session at the Great Neck Library as everyone finished their homework on time and efficiently. The tutoring sessions will resume next week, on Tuesday, June 9th.
