AYLUS Oyster Bay Volunteers @ Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY on November 1, 2025

AYLUS Oyster Bay spent the day volunteering at the Sisters of St. Joseph campus in Brentwood, NY, helping out with outdoor restoration projects. AYLUS Members and others worked in rotating stations: shoveling mulch into wheelbarrows, transporting and spreading it along the trails, removing invasive vines, and planting native plants. The teamwork made the experience productive and enjoyable, as everyone took turns at different workstations.

The Sisters of St. Joseph, founded in France in 1650 and established in Brentwood in 1901, have a deep commitment to education, service, and environmental stewardship. Their 200-acre campus has become a living model for sustainable land care and biodiversity protection.
Through this experience, AYLUS members not only contributed to environmental restoration but also learned from the Sisters’ perseverance and dedication. Their persistent commitment to caring for both people and the planet is an inspiring example of faith in action. By joining their efforts, AYLUS members supported a shared mission to nurture the environment and strengthen the community through stewardship.
