AYLUS Manhasset continue Clark Botanical Garden community service project on 4/27/24

on 4/27/24 AYLUS Manhasset members Matthew Yang and Eva Westbay started a gardening project to produce plants that are planned to be given to retirement homes and other people who would want them. We planted a myriad of sunflowers, strawberries, and other plants that could be later potted and grown into plants to donate, or to grow food for shelters and other applications. While we were there, AYLUS members and coordinators were also informed of new regulations that were in place, such as a limit of three (3) feet height for plants necessitating the repotting of certain species such as sunflowers.

We also did background work which involved growing the plants indoors before we could move them out when the garden opened. The growing plants project runs from December to April every Saturday for an hour and a half including getting the soil, the seeds and water them. the dates are Dec 2.9.16.23, Jan 6.13.20.27, Feb 3.17.24, March 2.9.16.23.30 and April 6.13.20.27

Matthew Yang , Benjamin Yang and Eva Westbay gained thirty seven and a half hours of community service.
