On Monday, 12/25/23, members of AYLUS Syosset joined together to hike on the Stillwell park trail in Syosset, NY. Members brought old plastic bags, gloves and garbage bags as well as a garbage picker. Much more trash was collected than expected, with the most commonly found items being glass and plastic bottles and cans, neglected dog poop bags, bottle caps, deflated balloons and empty cups and straws. At times, it was a difficult task as many bottles were situated deep in the thorns and thickets.
At the end, members discarded of all of the waste in the garbage cans in front of the trail.
