AYLUS Syosset Performs Music for Senior Citizens in Roslyn, 11/29/23

On 11/26/23,  from 1:45 PM to 3:45 PM, members of AYLUS Syosset performed for senior citizens at the senior care center in Roslyn NY. They spread their passion for music and played a selection of songs, all being refreshing and exhilarating to listen to. As an entire band consisting of strings (including piano), woodwind, brass, drums, and electrical instruments, four songs were played: Take on Me, Stand By Me, Viva la Vida, and Lonesome Warrior. Next, courageous soloists from the band volunteered to individually play a solo piece for the seniors. Solos performed by AYLUS members consisted of Amazing Grace played by Thea Chen, Sea of Stars sung by Kaydence Pan, and Teleman Concerto in G major by Chloe Wu. Overall, the senior citizens were ecstatic and amazed after the performances, clapping after each round of joyful music.

Performing music for the elderly is the perfect way for them to appreciate music, and to reconnect with their memories. It improves moods and helps them to experience self-expression even if some may be unable to express themselves physically.

Participants (everyone 2h): Austin Lin, Alexander Lin, Chloe Wu, Thea Chen, Kaydence Pan, Yiru Zhang
