AYLUS Idaho Falls collaborated with Idaho American Nuclear Society for 61st biannual highway clean up on October 14, 2023

To celebrate Nuclear Science Week,  we met up with members of the Idaho Section of American Nuclear Society for 61st biannual highway clean up on October 14th from 8:30 to 12:30, to raise the awareness of local Environmental and road safety.

Our section of highway was on I‐15 between mileposts 122 and 124, the whole cleaning crew picked up 29 bags, each bag weighed about 40 pounds, so the total was roughly 1160 pounds. We picked water bottles, fast food boxes, baby diapers, broken tires, broken glasses, and broken engines…. Through the clean up, the students realized they need to promote more about local environmental protection and road safety. The most rewarding thing was when cars driving by honking politely at us, which was their way to say thank you.
