On September 11th, 2026, AYLUS Syosset visited the Syosset Fire Department for the annual 9/11 candlelight memorial ceremony, coordinated with Chief Eysser. AYLUS members came together to honor and remember those who lost their lives during the September 11th attacks and to recognize the firefighters, first responders, and other individuals who demonstrated extraordinary dedication and service during and after the tragedy.
During the event, AYLUS members participated alongside the Syosset Junior Volunteer Fire Department and members of the local community. Members expressed their appreciation to the Syosset Fire Department for its continued commitment to protecting the community and for the many services it provides throughout the year. AYLUS also continued its tradition of showing appreciation through food, with members bringing donuts for the firefighters and volunteers.
As part of the memorial ceremony, community members placed flowers and candles at the memorial to honor those who were lost. This year’s ceremony also featured a live orchestra performance by students from Syosset High School, adding a meaningful musical element to the evening of remembrance. The performance helped bring members of the community together in reflection and provided a fitting tribute to those whose lives were affected by the events of September 11th.
The annual candlelight ceremony serves as an important opportunity for younger generations to learn about the significance of September 11th and to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the attacks. It also allows organizations such as AYLUS Syosset to recognize the sacrifices made by first responders and the continued dedication of local emergency personnel. Through our participation in this event, AYLUS Syosset was proud to contribute to the community’s ongoing tradition of remembrance while expressing our gratitude to the Syosset Fire Department and its volunteers.
