Raritan Valley Branch Participated in a Beach Cleanup with Save Coastal Wildlife Nonprofit at Sandy Hook Beach, NJ on 8/23/2023

Members of AYLUS’s Raritan Valley Branch joined volunteers from Save Coastal Wildlife Nonprofit in cleaning up Sandy Hook Beach on the 23rd of August, 2023. Volunteers were tasked with searching the beach for litter and removing all items of garbage that were found; this included plastic bottles, discarded cigarettes, plastic wrappers, pieces of styrofoam and plastic shards. By the end of the event, numerous items of trash had been identified and removed from the beach; multiple garbage bags were filled with the removed garbage, and the beach’s surface was noticeably less polluted.

Events such as this prevent garbage from being washed into the ocean and mitigate the influence of pollution toward coastal and marine ecosystems.

Thank you to all participants of this beach cleanup event!
