AYLUS Queens Branch Volunteered at Evangel Food Pantry on 7/22/23

On July 22nd, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Queens Branch actively participated in a food distribution event with 9 Million Reasons. We worked tirelessly as food bag packers, assisting hundreds of people at the Evangel Food Pantry. For five hours, we welcomed and served individuals until our supplies were depleted. The food distributed was diverse and abundant, ranging from fresh produce like tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini, to a variety of nutritious items such as meat, sushi, gummies, and juice. We even made sure to provide dog and cat food for those who needed it.

Witnessing the long lines of people waiting outside, we were reminded of the pressing issue of food insecurity in NYC. With nearly 2 million people affected, including 600,000 children, we understand the urgency of addressing this crisis. Additionally, the staggering number of homeless individuals, including 16,650 homeless children, further reinforces the need for community support.

As a dedicated organization, we strive to make a difference in the lives of those facing hardship. Events like these allow us to stand with the NYC community, offering support and compassion during challenging times.
