Warren Branch Volunteers at NJ Sharing Network 5K on June 11th, 2023

On June 11th, 2023, the AYLUS Warren branch volunteers helped out at the annual NJ Sharing Network 5K in New Providence. NJ Sharing Network is a non-profit organization that organizes organ and tissue donations for those on the waiting list, including over 4,000 NJ residents, that need transplants. Since 2011, NJ Sharing Network has they held the 5K Celebration of Life event annually in both Ocean Grove and New Providence. This year, the 5K Celebration of Life raised a total of nearly 1.5 million dollars. The New Providence 5K had an estimated 2,000 participants and was a huge success.

The Warren branch members arrived early in the morning to check in at the volunteer tent and afterwards, headed to the start line of the race. After a brief meeting and instructions, the members headed to the second water station on the 5K course, to which they were assigned. The volunteers poured gallons of water into individual cups and handed them out to the runners participating in the 5K race. The volunteers also handed out bottles of water and offered refills for the walkers joining the 5K later in the event. Runners and walkers were greatly motivated by the supporting words of the volunteers, and everyone had a great time. The volunteers all stayed until the end of the event.

Participants: Selina Zhan, Eddie Zhan, Megan Li, Kayla Peng, Clara Risso (8 hrs. each)
