Rancho Cucamonga Branch attended the Empire Strykers Ball Toss event on 03/09/2023

On March 9th, 2023, the AYLUS Rancho Cucamonga Branch partnered with Hope Through Housing to raise funds for their Building Bright Futures program by running two fundraising games during a popular soccer game at the Toyota Arena. The two games were the ball toss and “A Kick for Hope.”

The AYLUS volunteers helped to advertise the ball toss by walking around the stands with posters that stated the prices of the balls and what they were for. The goal was to throw the small balls between the quarters of the game on the soccer field to receive a prize. Meanwhile, another group of AYLUS members assisted with “A Kick for Hope.” Players kicked Velcro soccer balls onto a large target, with different sections of the target corresponding to different point values. The player with the most points received a prize, and it was a fun experience for the soccer fans.

Although it was challenging to register everyone and keep track of scores when a large influx of fans paid for the kicks, the AYLUS volunteers managed to run the games smoothly. Over two days, they raised over $1300 for Hope Through Housing, which will be used to provide necessities for those in need.

Hope Through Housing expressed their gratitude to the volunteers in a message, stating that their support was invaluable to the organization. Thanks to the AYLUS volunteers, Hope Through Housing was able to raise $1259 for their Building Bright Futures program, which promotes academic and personal success for children. On another occasion, the AYLUS volunteers raised $1137 for Hope Through Housing’s Building Bright Futures After-school Program.

Overall, the AYLUS Rancho Cucamonga Branch demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact in their community through their volunteer work with Hope Through Housing. They look forward to future opportunities to help those in need and contribute to important causes

The names of the three members who participated in the event and each of whom did 5 hours of volunteer service are:  Tommy Tang; Yuxuan Liu; Zixuan Wang
