Rancho Cucamonga Branch attended ALFC food bank activity on 03/04/ 2023

On March 4th, 2023, 15  members of the AYLUS RC Branch to volunteer at the ALFC Generosity Center for a food packaging and distribution activity. After several days of rain, hail, and even snow in Southern California, the food distribution activities had to be put on hold due to the cold weather. We were thrilled to receive a notice that there would be a volunteering opportunity on Saturday. The event quickly filled up, with all 15 spots taken in less than six minutes. Unfortunately, many members who wanted to participate were not able to register in time and had to wait for the next event.

We arrived at the center at 8:00 am and were given a brief training on the tasks that needed to be done and any safety precautions we needed to take. Before this volunteering activity, we had little knowledge of the organization in our city, but through this experience, we found it meaningful to be able to provide essential food to low-income families in our community using a mycotoxin test kit. This opportunity allowed us to express our social compassion and appreciate the value of volunteer work

This time, we were divided into two groups, with one group assisting in packaging canned and bean food indoors, and the other group distributing the food outside.

The volunteer activity was a challenging endurance test for all of us, as we worked non-stop for five hours straight. Visitors who came to receive the food drove to the center, and we were responsible for putting the food in the trunks of their cars.

Despite the physical challenges, all 15 of us were grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community. We felt fulfilled and satisfied in being able to provide much-needed food support to families in need.

As members of the AYLUS Rancho Cucamonga Branch, We are proud of our five-hour volunteer service and look forward to continuing our volunteer work in the future. Our efforts can make a meaningful difference in our community, and we are grateful for the chance to be a part of it.
