AYLUS Greater Temecula Valley Lends a Hand to Local Farm in July 2022 (16th)

Reported by Jessica Lu

On July 26, 2022,  Greater Temecula Valley AYLUS (GTVA) team Adora Xiao (3 hrs) and Jessica Lu (3 hrs) went to volunteer again at their local farm to help pick produce. All of the produce grown from this project is donated directly to the Temecula Community Mission of Hope for distribution to other local food pantries in our region and Fallbrook.

The members started off with their usual squash and zucchini picking. They eagerly went from row to row and finished picking the veggies and brought it to the main station. They had fun picking all sorts of different squash/zucchini and after, they made their way to the cucumbers to help harvest them. The members only picked the cucumbers that were extra big so they could save the smaller ones to pick on Saturday. They filled a couple of buckets and then went to weed through the onions and carrots.

There was certainly a lot of weeding to do as weeds grew more than usual. The members worked hard and decided to take a quick water break after. They also helped lift crates out of a truck so the farm would have more crates for carrots, beets, etc.

GTVA is eager to go to the farm again and help harvest veggies and fruits!
