Greater Princeton AYLUS Hosts Chess Class and Tournament for Community (61st) in January 2022

The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) Sports Committee continues Tournaments and a new chess schedule with classes (Weekly Tactic Challenge) in 2022.

GPA created a new chess class weekly through the end of the year. Each week, we go by the student’s skill level and solve puzzles such as checkmates in 2. For this week we set up tactics based on the student’s level, solving checkmates in two moves ranging from endgame positions to middlegame deep calculations. This weekly tactic training will help eager kids improve their envisioning and imaginative thoughts through chess.

GPA Volunteers: Sarah Yan (Class of 1/17, 2 hrs; 1/24, 2 hrs; 1/31, 2 hrs), Erick Yan (Class of 1/17, 2 hrs; 1/24, 2 hrs; 1/31, 2 hrs), George Chen (Class of 1/17, 2 hrs; 1/24, 2 hrs; 1/31, 2 hrs).

GPA Chess Club’s next tournament will be hosted on Saturday, February 5th, starting at 7 PM EST. The time control will remain the same (G10+5) and everyone is welcome. All ages can come and compete with their skills and have fun playing games of chess.
