AYLUS Rancho Santa Margarita Members participated in Lake Forest Sports Park food drive on November 23, 2032.
Upon receiving various types of foods, the members organized them by fruits, meat, etc. The members packaged the goods into separate bags to be delivered to their recipients. They also participated in setting up and clean-up with 2 different teams:
Produce Team: We have a produce section with pre-bagged produce. One volunteer will be responsible for placing products in the car and the other will be responsible for ushering the car forward to their section. Then another volunteer was responsible for opening the door.
Sign-In Team: These volunteers will be going from car to car to gather the information we need on a clipboard from each car as they line up. We will have other volunteers as well doing this. Important note: The volunteer has to be the one to fill out the form to make sure cross-contamination is not happening. It can be helpful for this person to be a little bilingual. We can always ask to see their driver’s license or ID to help with spelling.
This activity was meaningful to AYLUS Ranch Santa Margarita as it allowed members to assist in ensuring that members of their community receive vital foods. Moreover, this opportunity allowed members to step up into a leadership role as they chaperoned the younger volunteers. The members recognized that they could use their capabilities to help others in their area in need who may be less fortunate. It was an excellent example of community service, solidarity, and leadership.
