Phoenix Branch makes Amigurumi Whales & heart pillows and donates them to Chanlder Care center and hospital

During September and October 2021, members of the AYLUS-Phoenix branch made amigurumi whales for the Chandler CARE Center for a total of 15 hours. These cute whales were given to a daycare center and were crocheted in a variety of colors to accommodate everyone there. In this daycare center, children ages 3-6 spend their time learning, playing, and embracing their inner creativity. These adorable whales were given as a toy to brighten the children’s day and as an early gift for Halloween. The Phoenix Branch will continue to spread happiness to more people, especially in the holiday season.

The youth members that participated in this event were Marie Chen (15hours) and Jenny Dong (15hours).

The Recovery Pillow was designed as a post-surgical support pillow for heart surgeries and/or other surgeries. It is heart-shaped and covered in flannel fabric. It is stuffed with fiberfill (stuffing) to allow the pillow to adjust to each patient’s comfort needs, while still maintaining the needed support required.  Carol Chen went to store to purchase cloth, ribbon and stuffing. she spent 5-6 hours per week in the past 10 weeks, especially during weekend, cut them and sewing the pillow, and then fill the pillow with stuffing. Carlo delivered these pillows to dignity healthy foundation on Oct 08 2021, they will distribute these pillows to the different ICUs.
