Greater Princeton AYLUS Hosts Workshop for Young Writers (8th) in May 2021

Does your middle schooler love to write? Do they want the opportunity to grow that passion and discuss their writing with qualified mentors? If so, Young Writers Workshop at the Greater Princeton branch of AYLUS (GPA) is the answer!

On May 19th for 2 hours, two writing enthusiasts, GPA members Karen Yang and Eliana Du, met virtually, and will continue doing so every Wednesday, with middle schoolers to write, explore, conference, and create. Class was online, through the software “Google Meets.”

This week we began with a fun fact about reading. Then, we did a prompt, warm up, which students wrote about a conversation they had today and shared it with classmates. Next we started our lecture about dialogue, why it’s important, how to use it, etc. We also played an interactive game with dialogue tags and read a famous dialogue example. Kids then wrote according to three different prompts which we will give feedback for over the week. Next week, we’ll be having our usual class!
