Greater Princeton AYLUS Hosts Workshop for Young Writers in March 2021

Does your middle schooler love to write? Do they want the opportunity to grow that passion and discuss their writing with qualified mentors? If so, Young Writers Workshop at the Greater Princeton branch of AYLUS (GPA) is the answer!

On March 3rd, for 2 hours, two high school writing enthusiasts, GPA members Karen Yang and Eliana Du, met virtually, and will do so every Wednesday, with middle schoolers to write, explore, conference, and create. Our meetings are also insanely flexible; drop in whenever you want and attendance isn’t mandatory for every week. Some other events we have are talking with authors and writing competitions, so sign up at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSek_4xbog5f0dlPocvBP3bgERQvnn_X0EXo5kcIbk1AL9VPUg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Class was online, through the software “Google Meets.” This week we discussed “perspectives.” First, we did an icebreaker asking students to answer some fun questions in the virtual chatbox. Next, we introduced the teaching topic of “perspectives,” covering content about first/second/third person, limited and omniscient perspectives too. Then, we did a writing warm up prompt and animals and perspectives. Finally, we gave students time to do prompt writing and free write as well! We’ll be having class next Wednesday!
