Greater Princeton AYLUS Concludes Save the Children Donation Project on February 20th, 2020

AYLUS doesn’t forget children over the pandemic. As temperatures drop, COVID-19 has reached a new high this winter. Most states have issued red alerts, closing increasing amounts of stores, and making many people unemployed. Without income, these people are struggling to make ends meet, and depend on donation stores that resell clothing and other household items at very low prices they can afford.

To help keep children educated while staying safe and warm through the winter, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) has hosted a series of donation events between January 20th and February 20th. Many GPA volunteers cleaned and bagged their reading books, clothes, and shoes, then dropped them off at designated collection houses in South Brunswick (Xinyi Christine Zhang), Montgomery (Alissa Wu), Princeton (Fengqi Wen), Edison/Metuchen (Audrey Wang), Warren (Anthony F. Yang), West Windsor-Plainsboro and more (Cassie Tammy Wang). They received over 3000 items, re-packed in 50+ large bags for donation.

On Saturday, February 20th, the GPA volunteers sent such donations to Goodwill Donation Center (415 Highway 18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816), a well-known nationwide charity organization to help low-income people in the NY and NJ area. Volunteers dropped off all bags while wearing masks and taking proper steps to ensure safety.

Participants (3 hrs for all): Cassie Tammy Wang, Annabelle Huang, Alisa Zihui Xiao, Xinyi Christine Zhang, Alissa Wu, Steven Li, Anthony F. Yang, Audrey Wang, Alice Jiang, Sarah Liu, Shannon Liu, Yan Fischer, Steven Li, Amy Xu, Xiangcheng Ying, Wenyan Wang, Xiangdong Wu, Selene Su, Yuqing Feng, Wenhui Liu, Yichao Zhang, Yi Wang, and more!
