Sep 09, East Cobb Branch Census 2020 Text Banking III

On September 9th, 2020, nine AYLUS members teamed up with CPACS to remind the people of Georgia to complete the census. The texts were aimed towards minorities that usually were not counted in the census. The text banking was important since it allowed the members to get to a lot of people at once.

When the meeting started, a staff member asked for the phone number and name of the participants to set up their Hustle accounts. Hustle was the site used for text banking. The staff member then presented a presentation about the importance of the Census and why it is important for people to participate in it. The staff member then switched gears and explained how to access Hustle as well as sending and responding to messages. The members began sending out initial replies, and soon began responding to texts using prewritten messages as well as a document with questions and answers.

The members enjoyed the experience of being able to help not only CPACS but also the state of Georgia as well. When the staff member announced that the time was up, a few eager members decided to stay on the Zoom call to finish responding to the last messages.
