Greater Princeton AYLUS Teamed up to Tutor Kids Math (26th) on July 26, 2020

On July 26, 2020, student members of the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA), Kevin Song and Karen Yang, teamed up and taught kids from West Windsor in the subjects of math. The 1.5-hour class offered by GPA members Karen Yang and Kevin Song teach Pre-Algebra class to 6 kids: Kathy, Victor, Claire, Meisu, Claire, and Mia.

This week we continued to learn our Pre Algebra content. We first checked homework from last class and answered questions the kids may have had. Then the students answered warm-up questions, as shown in the “Happy Happy Day” Picture and we went over each of them. Next, we continued to learn Chapter 8 content by beginning to teach content on percentages! We used the “of” strategy of identifying percentages as multiplication and then applying multiplication to solve problems! These problems included “what percent of 80 is 24?” After that, we continued to teach this content by letting kids try similar problems on their own and then checking these problems. Then, we assigned homework for the next class. We’ll be having a class on Wednesday!
