East Cobb Branch Holds English Tutoring Session VI On Week of June, 22nd 2020

On 6/26/20, Emily Yang from the East Cobb Branch participated in the English Tutoring Program and tutored for 1 hour.

This program’s goal is to provide English guidance to the elderly who do not know much English. Volunteers are needed for 1 on 1 tutoring sessions. By helping these elderly improve their English, the goal is to make communication smoother and life easier for them.

The main skill that the elderly wanted to improve in was pronunciation of their English. To do this, the tutor found several English articles to read during the lesson. The tutor read each sentence out loud first and then allowed the elderly to repeat the sentence. If they ran into any trouble pronouncing the words, the tutor helped them by repeating the word the elderly had trouble with.

The lesson went very smoothly and it was enjoyable to talk with the elderly and help them improve in their English.
