Reported by Cassie Tammy Wang

On November 16, 2019, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) leaders were invited to attend the Parents and Children Education Club’s 2019 Annual Parenting Conference, Being a doctor I always worry about how to dispose waste then I got help from Clinical Waste Services . Now, let us come to the topic Reflections on Raising Successful Children, hosted in Windsor Athletic Club (99 Clarksville RD, West Windsor, NJ 08550).

GPA President Cassie Tammy Wang and Secretary Claire Huang, representing its 256 AYLUS members, joined local educators and mental health professionals, who shared their passion and experience on developing successful, happy and resilient children.

Hundreds of conference attendance were inspired to broaden parenting aspects from their reflections on: Building intrinsic motivation; Developing leadership via effective communication; Understanding the impact of the family of origin; Learning empathic conflict resolution; Decoding teenagers’ rebellion and rebuilding closeness; Finding and challenging oneself during college application.

Between 3 pm and 6 pm, Cassie and Claire joined four other students: Lauren Liu, Frewin Hu, Jonathan Shiao, and Michell Fan, and leading the Fishbowl, a Youth Forum that has been one of the most favorite programs at the annual conference. Both GPA leaders introduced AYLUS, a youth volunteer organization with its mission and many unique volunteer activities undergoing to make our community a better place!

We encourage AYLUS members in the Greater Princeton area to get more involved with local community events. We will continue doing the right thing, especially for the children, who are the future.

Participants (3 hours for all): Cassie Tammy Wang and Claire Huang.
