Reported by Fengqi Wen

On November 13, 2019, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) “Humanitarian Care” team served at Cornerstone Community Kitchen in Princeton (PCCK) from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm (2 hours).

PCCK is a food kitchen regularly serving dinner once a week on Wednesdays. It also provides a free clothing store, health screenings, haircutting, and styling and kids playing area. The kitchen is aiming at helping underprivileged people in the Princeton area.

GPA members, Fengqi Wen and Anderson Chiang, arrived at the kitchen early and lined up with some other volunteers. For dinner, grilled chicken, apples, desserts, fresh fruit salad, and beans served. When the people who were being served, finished, we took away their dishes and sent them to clean.

Both the adults and the children enjoyed the food and delighted that they could bring extra food bags and clothes home. After the dinner, children started to play. There were also healthcare professionals who were offering free check up and free haircuts. There were also professionals giving flu shots.

Once again, for GPA members, it was a pleasant experience working at the kitchen. Everyone was happy to have this opportunity to serve others.
